Furniture Design Coastline Table by Wu Yu-Han Coastline is a table inspired by the rising sea levels caused by global warming. The tabletop is made of acrylic, also known as PMMA, and is shaped by high-temperature heating to suggest clear seawater. The supporting structure is made of michelia compressa and pine, and the wood represents the height of mountains. Hard wood was selected so that the structure would not deform during heating. The uneven edge recalls a coastline eroded by the sea, and the material combination allows light to pass through in layers. The table measures 350 mm in width, 650 mm in depth and 500 mm in height.
